Introducing The Sakura Edition! Our first variation from the traditional Indigo Shibori dye method. We have made a beautiful range of Spring pink shades by steeping our Shibori bindings in an all-natural dye made from boiled avocado skins and pits. From dusty mauve to the lightest ballet pink, the Sakura Edition is meant to inspire thoughts of Spring, strolling under cherry blossom trees, and cheeks flushed in the new sunshine. As always, we use 100% cotton and offer a machine washable product, something important to us as practical parents.
What is Shibori?
Shibori is the ancient Japanese technique of folding, twisting, bunching, and binding fabric before dyeing it in a vat of indigo.
What is Indigo?
Indigo is a dye made from the pigments of plants found in the Indigofera family. It has been used for thousands of years and across many cultures to achieve a range of beautiful blue hues. Indigo dye is an all natural and organic compound that is safe for baby’s delicate skin. It is also 100% machine washable!
Yes! We create a range of beautiful pink hues for our "Sakura Edition" by steeping fabric in a vat of dye made from the skins and pits of avocados. Each batch is unique to the avocados we use and no two items are the same. Colors range from the lightest ballet pink to dusty mauve and the designs are subtle and elegant. Fabric is soaked in food-grade alum before dying to mordant the fabric, making the dye colorfast and allowing us to offer a 100% natural, 100% unique, and 100% machine washable product.
