About the event

Tickets available at All Hands Workshops

Join us to learn the technique of Shibori Indigo Dyeing and create your own unique pieces to bring home! Create a set of two throw pillow covers using Shibori dyeing. We will learn the basics of the Japanese art of folding and binding fabric, mix a vat of indigo dye together, and experience the magic of this ancient dyeing tradition! Light refreshments will be served, and each guest is welcome to bring a small piece of their own to dye at the end, which must be 100% natural fiber such as cotton, linen, hemp, silk, or wool.

What is Shibori?

Shibori is the ancient Japanese technique of folding, twisting, bunching, and binding fabric before dyeing it in a vat of indigo.

What is Indigo?

Indigo is a dye made from the pigments of plants found in the Indigofera family. It has been used for thousands of years and across many cultures to achieve a range of beautiful blue hues. Indigo dye is an all natural and organic compound that is safe for even the most delicate skin. It is also 100% machine washable!
