About the event
Enter into the magical world of natural and botanical dyeing in this Flower Pounding Workshop. Learn the basics of extracting pigment from fresh foliage by arranging and hammering it into silk and other materials. Each student will design and create two beautiful silk scarves 21.5 x 21.5 inches, using local seasonal flowers echoing the natural beauty all around us. These square silk scarves are so versatile and will add a lovely hint of color to your wardrobe or home decor, or make the perfect thoughtful gift. A guide to flower hammering at home will be included in the class for further experimenting at home! Students may bring extra materials to experiment with any extra foliage, thick watercolor paper and natural fabrics are great for this craft.
