About the event
For those who have taken the Shibori Indigo dyeing workshop, or those with a basic understanding of natural dye or the shibori technique, we look forward to welcoming you to this advanced class! We will be once again brewing a vat of indigo, and this time we will be covering three traditional styles of ancient Japanese Shibori. Together we will experiment with Arashi (storm) Shibori by wrapping and scrunching our material on a long pole, Kumo (spiderweb) Shibori by binding pebbles into our material, and Ori Nui (stitched) Shibori with needle and thread over a hand drawn design. We will use one or more of these techniques to design and create a one of a kind 12 x 24 inch linen wall hanging, which we will dye, dry, and finish by fixing to a length of local driftwood.
Light refreshments will be served, and each guest is welcome to bring a small piece or two of their own to dye at if time allows, which must be 100% natural fiber.
